The Monroe College was founded in 1933 and has three campuses in the state of New York. These campuses are in New Rochelle, the Queens Extension Site and in the Bronx neighborhood in NYC. City College of New York (CCNY)
The City College of New York is a member of the City University of New York. It is located in NYC and offers a pharmacy tech certificate program which prepares students to take the PTCE exam. The program includes a total of 25 sessions or 75 hours, which can be taken on weekday evenings in most cases.

ASA College
The ASA College, located in New York City, has multiple advantages for people wishing to pursue a pharmacy technology education. Not only does the ASA College offer a much shorter program for pharmacy techs, it also offers a better level of education. While most colleges may require students to complete 1-2 years of education in order to acquire a pharmacy tech diploma certificate, the ASA College offers aspirants an Associate of Science (A.O.S) Degree in just 16 months. This is equivalent to three semesters.
In this program, the students are not only required to complete the courses listed in the curriculum, but also to complete 180 hours of practical experience. Half of this time is spent in community pharmacy setting while the other half is spent in a hospital setting. Students will possess the following skills at the end of the program:
1. Effective communication with patients.
2. Identification and classification of different drugs.
3. Calculating dosages and preparing medication.
4. Apply legal and ethical principles for controlling and releasing medicine.
Besides these skills, the students are prepared to take the CPhT exam in order to become a nationally recognized Pharmacy Tech. Bronx Community College
The Bronx Community College is also associated with the City University of New York and follows almost the same curriculum as the City College of New York (CCNY). The college offers a pharmacy tech certification program at the end of which the students earn a diploma. The program is complete with 80 hours of instructional lessons. During these hours, students are not only taught about math and basic science, but also in the following subjects:

The three-hour sessions are held only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. It may take around 25 weeks or 6 months to complete the program. At the end of the program, the students are not only awarded a diploma certificate, but are also encouraged to take the nationally recognized exams administered by the PTCB or NHA.
Although, the program provides the necessary education for these exams, students may still enroll in another program that is specifically designed for their preparation. The exam preparation program includes 12 hours of lessons scheduled for two weeks on Wednesday and Thursday Evenings. The cost of this program is $170, but students who have successfully completed the diploma program may get a 20% reduction in this fee.

The Sanford Brown College in NYC has one of the most happening pharmacy tech programs across the state of New York. At the end of the pharmacy tech program, students are awarded a certificate. This certificate is accredited by national institutions which help in establishing the credibility of candidates. Unlike many other schools and colleges, to enter the program, applicants have to first submit an application and then they are invited to take a test. Only the upper lot is selected from the test, and they are still required to satisfy the application criterion, which demands proof of a high school diploma. Also, any previous criminal record could be a hindrance for prospective candidates as the college performs its own background checks. Once the test is passed and the pre-requisite criterion is satisfied, applicants are invited for an interview and following this, the final decision is made.
